Message from the President
EDNCPHA has been a part of North Carolina Public health for over 50 years.
I am honored to serve as the President for such a great and long standing
association. Until the last couple of years I was not active in Eastern District.
I credit George O’Daniel with getting me involved and through my work with
the officers and section chairs I have had the opportunity to meet some fantastic
public health professionals. We are currently working with the Association of
Local Health Directors and NCPHA to ensure that Eastern District remains a
vibrant part of Public Health in North Carolina for the next 50 years.
Our annual conference will be in New Bern on May 9-11.

We have been through a whirlwind of legislation that would have reshaped
public health in this state. No decisions were made during the 2011 legislative
session, however 2012 will promise to be interesting for our profession.
One thing that I have learned during my career is that any agency is only as
good as the people working in it. Please help the leadership of EDNCPHA by
giving us your feedback on what you would like to see from our association
to aid your staff in becoming the best that they can be. We truly want to be a
resource to public health professionals in this state and hope that you will
encourage your staff to take part in the association. Thank you.
